Many Christians have fashioned God in their own image and ideas. In their blind attempts to love and be accepting of everyone, they mistakenly believe our loving God accepts the gay lifestyle  and that gay marriage is ok. It is certainly true that God loves everyone. He hates nothing He creates. But it is clear in sacred scripture that the gay lifestyle is an abomination before God. All one has to do is read Romans 1:24-32 for anyone with any level of intelligence to see this.  It couldn't be clearer. It is also true that we as Christians cannot discriminate against  those who live the gay lifestyle. And they certainly should be afforded most of the same rights as anyone else at all levels of society, However, we cannot at the same time accept this lifestyle and  re-define marriage as it is set forth by God in the bible.  We also cannot as Christians place our American (or whatever country you live in) citizenship ahead of God's law and will. Calling it a civil rights thing is not going to cut it before God. He already told us it was wrong 2000+ years ago in the bible. Separation of one's faith from society is also not going to cut it before God. At our Sunday worship, we are fed with God's Word so that we can live out our faith and God's will for all of us in every segment of our daily lives. It is not just a Sunday thing. "Sorry, God, your will is only relevant on Sundays, not the rest of the week  and especially not in the voting booth". Quite frankly attitudes like this make me sick to my stomach. Some from other Christian denominations accuse us Catholic Christians of leaving our brains at the door when we enter the Church on Sunday. If this is true, than it is equally true that many Christians leave their Faith and God's will at the door on the way out! The Book of Leviticus is also quite clear on this issue. Leviticus 20:13, which reads: "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable.

24Therefore, God handed them over to impurity through the lusts of their hearts* for the mutual degradation of their bodies.v 25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and revered and worshiped the creature rather than the creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.w 26Therefore, God handed them over to degrading passions. Their females exchanged natural relations for unnatural, 27and the males likewise gave up natural relations with females and burned with lust for one another. Males did shameful things with males and thus received in their own persons the due penalty for their perversity.x 28And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God handed them over to their undiscerning mind to do what is improper. 29y They are filled with every form of wickedness, evil, greed, and malice; full of envy, murder, rivalry, treachery, and spite. They are gossips 30and scandalmongers and they hate God. They are insolent, haughty, boastful, ingenious in their wickedness, and rebellious toward their parents. 31They are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Although they know the just decree of God that all who practice such things deserve death, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them. (Romans 1: 24-32)
