I've been wondering about the state of things within our faith life as Catholics. Where are the bishops as leaders and teachers strongly and faithfully proclaining what we believe and correcting heresy (does this even exist anymore)? I am fortunate to live in a diocese with a faithful, orthodox bishop but I wonder about others who do not have such good leadership. Do those who have a bad, unfaithful bishop incur sin following their bishop's guidance? For example, a bishop who declares no problem with homosexual behavior or one who advises parishioners it's okay to use birth control or to have an abortion. What about those poor souls who follow this bishop or priests thinking?

I have been fortunate to live in an area that we have a very good bishop. Where Homosexuallity, use of birthcontrol and having an abortion is completely unexceptable. The exception, I believe to birthcontrol would be to fix a physical problem. I asked my parish priest about that an he said other than that these things according to church law are just that unexceptable. With no or few exceptions. I happen to agree that marriage is completely between male and female. That its wrong to prevent life and murder a life. At least that is how I feel about it. I don't know that I was any help but in this matter all I can give is just my opinion.

I have found the BC never fixes anything. It only masks the symptoms, leaving us women with the problem now covered up. I had to go on for one month for a cyst on my ovary, Never again!! I felt horrible, raged at my family, crabbed at my friends and blew off my boss and work. Once I was off the pill, I felt much better but the problem of the cyst did not go away.

Before we go on maligning our bishops, please tell me exactly which bishops condone homosexual sex acts? And which ones condone artificial birth control or abortion? How do you know there are any in the first place? And who keeps track of all the letters on these subjects that each of the bishops publish (or not) in every diocese, and which bishops are faithful and which ones aren't? Please name each one here and their diocese.

Apparently you haven't looked too far. All one needs to do is go to the U.S. Bishop's website to see the treasury of documents and statemens against abortion, contraception, homosexuality and a myriad of other issues. The last thing the bishops are, is silent or condoning sinful behavior.

I regularly read lifesite.net and it has reported many articles on both priests and bishops who have negatively taught or espoused views contrary to Church teaching. Bishop Flynn of Minneapolis and Bishop "Tiny"Muskens of Holland come to mind. I am well aware that not all bishops are bad. Mine is wonderful, orthodox and calls us to higher standards. I only wish that everyone had as good a bishop.
