I'm a candidate in an RCIA class, about to be received into the Church at Easter vigil. I've been told by the priest that I can't make a first confession until after being received. I was previously baptized in a Protestant denomination, and I feel that I NEED to make a confession before being confirmed and receiving the Eucharist.
Is there something that happens during the confirmation process that absolves me?
In fact, Mickie, you are expected to confess prior to your reception into the Church. Even if the priest tells you no, go on your own. You do not want to receive the remaining Sacraments of Initiation in a state of sin, as you will not gain the graces of the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist.
