Hi, everybody. My name is Rick, and I'm a moderator of the forums at the Coming Home Network. E-Cath has been hosting a chat room for us for a month now (thanks, guys, it is much appreciated) so I thought I'd come check out your forums.
CHN is a ministry dedicated to clergy and lay members of non-Catholic ecclesial communities who are interested in learning more about the Catholic faith. CHN's founders are Marcus Grodi, Scott Hahn, and Jeff Cavins, and Marcus is the Executive Directory. The Journey Home program on EWTN is part of the ministry. Our forums are both an information source and a support group for those coming home to Rome, or interested in learning more about the Catholic faith in a non-threatening environment. Support is provided by others who have been on the same road before. The forums are available
here.
To introduce myself, I am a Master Catechist in the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux, Louisiana, and have a Master's level Certificate in Pastoral Studies (Parish Ministry and Administration) from Loyola University in New Orleans. I was employed as a hospice chaplain but lost my job a few months ago as an aftereffect of Hurricane Katrina, and am currently unemployed. My background is in accounting, computers and ministry, so if you hear of any openings.....
I am also a Saints fan in the midst of a miracle season. After the devastation of hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005, and the ongoing problems in rebuilding in 2006, we figure God knew we needed something to smile about. The suicide rate had tripled in the area, but since the Saints started winning, it's back down again! Usually we're depressed in January, but not this year! And with Mardi Gras coming in February, we have a lot to look forward to this year.
If you get a chance, drop by CHN, especially if you're a convert or revert with a conversion story to share. Meanwhile, thanks again for the chat room, and I'll see you around!
