I am struggling with what I think is a call to join the Catholic Church. I am not a neophyte to spiritual matters. Without going into too much detail:
1. I grew up Baptist, but attended Catholic school for 1st and 2nd grades (not uncommon in that area) It was hard to see all of my friends receive their First Communion -- boy did I feel left out! (I remember portions of the Latin Mass to this day --this was in the late 1940's)
Well, it "took" so to say -- While I remained a pretty faithful Baptist the longing never really left.

2. While in college I studied to become a Catholic (at a Catholic University) but never finished. During this time I began dating a non-Catholic (Episcopalian) -- what can I say? I was young! He made it very clear that he would NEVER marry a Catholic. I fell head over heel's as they say. So I joined the Episcopal Church and married him.
That was 38 years ago. And we have a relatively happy marriage today. I liked the Episcopal Church and we stayed there for 25years. I was a candidate for the deaconate when I felt the STRONG conviction that I could NOT go through with the ordination. We left the Episcopal Church and I was all set to "head for Rome" until my husband and two sons let me know in no uncertain terms how hurt and angry they would be.
We (three of that is) became Anabaptists. (oldest son became Assembly of God) So, that's where I have been for the past twelve years. Now at age 62 the pull is back/?still there.
Reason for Prayer? My family has not changed their tune -- in fact our eldest son let me know he will not speak to me if I go through with this. (He is engaged to be married to a "rabid" ex-Catholic from South America!) I do not believe that God would call me to do anything to destroy out marriage -- and yet I sense such a desire!!
Please pray. I am sorry that this is so long but I've been around for a awhile! Thanks and God Bless you all -- Moria

I was a Moslem, I converted . I am a catholic , my wife is Presbyterian.

I won’t force her to become a catholic and she does not force me. I wish we both went to the same church but all I can do is to pray and leave it to God.

You have to make them understand that they should live in harmony.

That was quite an interesting series of events... I find it interesting that the desire to be Catholic has remained such a part of you... All I can say to you is, I would pay close attention to what God was asking of me...If God has been calling you to Him in the Catholic church for all these years, I do not think it is a fickle desire on your part... To me it sounds like the Holy Spirit has been whispering in your ear for very long time.. I personally would not listen to anyone who threatened me with silence if I converted... I would be more interested in what God thought of me if,in fact He is the one who had been calling my name.... I would suggest you talk to a priest about this situation and ask for spiritual direction... I then would listen to the stirrings in my heart and be sure it is God who is calling me to His church.. If in fact you do come to the church I would like to be the first one to say to you "Welcome Home MOGO" well done good and faithful servant.... God Bless you...
