An anti-Catholic posed this question to me and I had no answer!

With regard to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the saints still being alive in heaven to intercede for us, this person said that since scripture says “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day” John 6:44, then that means the saints are dead until then. And he also said that since scripture says we "sleep for a little while" meaning death, that means they are dead, not alive.

Please explain. Thank you!

Jesus says to the thief on the cross, tonight you will be with me in paradise.  Well, being with Jesus, in paradise --- many if not most would consider THAT HEAVEN

and if the good thief merits paradise than so do our lady and the saints

as well ELijah did not die he was taken straight into heaven by a fiery chariot

the body remains in the grave until the resurrection  but the soul goes to heaven, purgatory or to damnation when you die Grin
