Hi all..............My name is Barbara or Barb and I prefer Barb - Mum only used "Barbara" if she was mad at me!  So I cringe (conditioning) when I hear or read "Barbara".  I live in South Australia and have been a Catholic all my life, born into a Catholic home and educated by nuns for 12 years.  I am now almost 61yrs old and am a student at an Adult Campusand a bus trip from my home.
I first felt a religious calling at 7 years old and subsequently at long intervals entered two Orders only to leave within a short space of time really.  A rather long journey evolved and many years ago I found my vocation fully in a lifestyle I call simply "Bethany" which is also the name of my residence.  The lifestyle took form under my then director/confessor who is now sadly deceased.    I live in the main alone and am privately vowed to the evangelical counsels for life now.  I have a spiritual director in a nun in an active Order here who had been a novice mistress - hence experienced in the inexperienced!
I stay in touch with my ex Novice Mistress in the very strictly enclosed Benedictine Order I entered in my forties, and subsequently left, and the prioress of a contemplative monastery here has been my best pal and confident, mentor, sometime advisor for over 25 years now.

Thank you for having me...............Barb

Thank you for the welcome!
Yes, always great to find one's niche in life and especially if for years one could not.  I have never been in a Chat Room and  do not know at all how they work or how to access them, except that people can 'talk' to each other in an instant manner?  The other thing is I am self trained mostly on the computer and not at all computer literate although earlier this year I did an Introductory Computer course on my campus.  I find my way around by 'following the bouncing ball' and at times computer language does stump me, so please forgive any complete ignorance I display.  In another lifetime it seems I was a private secretary and hence touch type.  This computer was a gift.......my 'life story' incidentally was only a very brief outline and kindly to myself!!! Grin.....more to this fish than fins!.....Barb Smiley

Hello, Barb!

Newbie here, too.  I've really enjoyed your insightful posts on the threads here!

Pax Christi,
Danielle

Thank you Danielle for the welcome.........and the affirmation "every day as long as this day lasts, keep encouraging one another" (introduction to the Divine Office).
I have no idea how to access or use a chat room, so if anyone would be willing to give me some hints and advice, they would be appreciated.  I am very much a learner on the computer, and sort of follow the bouncing ball as it were to find my way around things really complex to a "technological dyslexic" as I have been called fondly!...Blessings..........Barb

Hi Barb, I was so happy to read your profile.  And welcome to this forum.  I am very new to this and haven't figured how to write in my profile. May God be with you in your life of religious expectation. Signed your Sister - in - Christ, Isabel

Hi Isabel.........writing a profile is really not hard, simply put in a few facts about yourself that are something of a summary.  My experience is that if it is meant to be more than that simply unfolds in the course of threads and posts.........Blessings with Peace and Joy in all things regardless....a sister in Christ.....Barb Smiley
