Hi, as you all see i am new to this forum. I am an convert to the rcc from the lutheran state church, and i have some questions i would like answers to.
1. I am an only child, and i feel this is a problem when i consider if i should follow the call i feel. Are there any resources for this topic. 2. If i am an priest can i work in other countries than my native? 3. Other resources?
Thanks for the help, and excuse my bad english.

Hello Viking,
Welcome to e-catholic.
What country are you from? How does being an only child affect your call? Does your culture expect you to engage in certain responsibilities as an only child?
If you want to be a Priest and would like some day to serve in another country, I suggest that you join an international, missionary religious order. There are many out there. You could look them up on the world wide web. All you have to do is type in missionary religious communities or something similar. I'm sure there might be a few of them in your own country.
Another resource could be your Parish Priest. Talk to him and see what he recommends.
Blessings on your journey,
Sr. Elizabeth SDS

Thanks for your reply SrElizabethSDS, and sorry for my late answer.
What country are you from? Norway
How does being an only child affect your call? I will not be able to bring my inheritage into a new generation. When i die, i feel like my family also dies, i feel like i stop the family.
Does your culture expect you to engage in certain responsibilities as an only child? No, we have good social security systems in Norway.
Another resource could be your Parish Priest. Talk to him and see what he recommends.
yes, but i am a recent convert, and i think it is too soon

Hi Viking,
Norway? Wow, I hear it is a beautiful country!
I was wondering, what is the percentage of Catholics in Norway? What religious orders do you know in Norway?
Usually religious orders and diocesan seminaries require that the person be a convert for at least 2 years if not a little more.
In terms of family yes, that is a decision/sacrifice that has to be evaluated. Although in the Jewish tradition it is believed that as long as the family is talked about, the family lives on in others.
As a recent convert you are right. It will be important for you to take time to learn and reflect on the many things you are learning now. One day at a time, no rush.
Perhaps joining one of the groups at your church will help establish friends, learn and find your special place.
Many blessings on your journey, Sr. Elizabeth SDS

Yes, Norway is very beutifull, and is a great country to live in. The estimate number of catholics in Norway is 40.000 or % percent of the 4 million innhabitants. The church thinks the real number of catholics are about twice of that, since many of the catholics in norway dont understand the language and dont know how to register.
I know that we have
Augustinian Canons Cisterciensis Dominicans Fransiscans Jessuits Marists Missionarys of the holy family oblat fathers congregation of the sacred heart of jesus and marry
I would like to take an education before i go to semitary, e.g law, which i could also use in the churh if i follow that path
