ADDRESS OF HIS HOLINESS BENEDICT XVI ON THE OCCASION OF CHRISTMAS GREETINGS TO THE ROMAN CURIA Monday, 20 December 2010
In his Christmas address to the Roman Curia, the Holy Father, spoke of the similarities of the decline of the Roman Empire and the moral decay and decline we are seeing today. Each of us can use his words as warning of the impending collapse of morality "without which juridical and political structures cannot function"
HIs words in part were; " Today too, we have many reasons to associate ourselves with this Advent prayer of the Church. For all its new hopes and possibilities, our world is at the same time troubled by the sense that moral consensus is collapsing, consensus without which juridical and political structures cannot function. Consequently the forces mobilized for the defence of such structures seem doomed to failure.
